Višegrad, a city on the Drina River, famous for the Mehmed Paša Sokolović Bridge, one of the most significant national monuments in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The 500-year-old bridge is a leitmotif of a famous novel written by Ivo Andrić, The Bridge over the Drina, a novel which brought the author a Nobel Prize for literature in 1961. In his honour, Andrićgrad was established on a river bank.
On August 1, 2015, at 00:00 am, from this point, the first ultra trail race will start and take you from the Drina banks across tops of Ivica and Sjemeć mountains, Stjenice, Glasinac field and Romanija mt. to the top of Jahorina mt.
